Pros
The culture is great and the opportunities are endless - my work matters. We are a dispersed team, but we are given opportunities to connect and build rapport with every single employee! Leadership continually ask us for our thoughts, opinions, have us challenge them on how we can operate better and we all have a lot of fun along the way. The honestly and transparency that is offered is refreshing and unlike any company I have worked for previously. I am kept up to date with key business information, we are updated on company strategy each week, I am offered a high level of autonomy and leadership make themselves available. I can see leadership starting to invest in professional development, growth plans and reviewing our compensation - this is pretty amazing since we don't even have 20 employees yet! Being a start up we operate in a state of ambiguity and with urgency, its fast and fun. As we continue to grow the team I can see leadership investing in our culture and ways for us to stay connected to what's happening outside of our direct department. My teammates are honestly great and I enjoy spending time with them each day.
Cons
It is a start up, it is challenging and unstructured, there are obstacles, your day to day can change on a dime but the unpredictability is what makes it fun. The company is suited to people who like to see their impact and wear many hats. You will work outside of your job description - I like that part! No one is holding your hand, leadership support is there (they are not going to feed you to the wolves) but it is your personal drive and ambition that works in your favor here. Its hard work, but what early stage start up isn't :) On paper career opportunities may be somewhat lacking - but you get to be involved in everything so its really your initiative and motivation that moves your career in the right direction.
