Pros

The job is very easy and not complicated. You also get two really good managers that are very easy to work for. Free membership after 90 days which can be used to see other museums.

Cons

Exhibits and other attractions tend to break or malfunction quite often which leads to customers, demanding that we automatically fix everything at once. Other than that the higher-ups above management tend to press down on visitor service and retail way too hard which tends to stress out both teams not only that. there is not much recognition for the work that is done.

Career Advancement can be difficult or poorly-defined. Growth from the mid-level to more senior roles is challenging and rare, there is an institutional preference to hire external candidates for Senior positions rather than promote from within. Teams tend to be small and understaffed, leading to a lot of informal responsibilities that are not reflected in pay or position.
