Competitive salary and strong benefits, which have kept me here for nearly 20 years.
Great coworkers—strong teamwork and a supportive environment.
Job stability and opportunities to gain valuable hands-on experience.
Steady work with a well-structured maintenance team.
Cons
Currently operating at 70% staffing, which increases workload and stress.
Leadership could improve communication and trust employees more.
OA offers opportunities for growth, fair pay (for state government), and supportive teams. The organization provides for a great work-life balance.
Cons
Because Jefferson City and its outliers are small towns with large families, nepotism can frequently be found in higher-salary positions. Many of the department directors and deputy directors are locals, some with only institutional knowledge and no degrees. For many of the positions, you must live in the Jefferson City area. The local culture is not conducive to positive mental health because of the small-town cliques that are present.
