Good team, and yummy samples - Barista/Sales Associate Empire Cake Employee Review

This is a popular bakery, so dealing with the generally happy and loyal customers makes working in a retail setting much more pleasant. The bosses are respectful of your time and your efforts, and focus on hiring coworkers who are going to be fun and interesting to work with. My experiences here have been positive and I've made some good friends in addition to gaining some valuable learning experience.

Like any retail setting (especially in NYC!), the occasional customer is difficult or crazy lol.

- I made basically all my friends here, the other staff are really awesome people - free treats - a good place to get barista experience before moving elsewhere

- management - no benefits and unequal pay - weird hours - 112 location is haunted All of the negative reviews about management are unfortunately very real and true. I really loved working at this job and the people I got to hang out on a daily basis, but management cannot keep it together. I was only here for five months and in that time 5+ people (including a FOH manager) quit/walked out on the job because of how they were treated by the owners.
