Pros
-Rewarding work. Getting to see students grow and improve not just as learners, but also becoming more confident and more engaged in reading and learning in general was really exciting. - Challenging, but not overly so. Having multiple sessions in a day with a variety of ages and ability levels means you have to be able to change topics and approaches quickly. - Lots of resources. Brilliant Grades provides lesson plans including activities, scaffolded assignments, and even homework for learners to continue practicing between weekly sessions.
Cons
- Not much flexibility on lesson planning. - Short turnaround time between sessions, especially if you're only working weekday afternoons/evenings. - Little control over the learners you're assigned. While you are able to provide notes on each session and learner, you couldn't really select who you wanted or didn't want to work with.
