Pros

MHN is great for the experience in all areas of health with all types of players in the field. They are a small organization that does A LOT and everyone has a chance to participate in different programs. Opportunities to network are vast. Campaigns are fun and potential to work with big name celebrities. Lots of room to explore your own ideas and grow (with supervisor guidance). Management is not nit picky or micromanaging; if you get the job done, and they approve the reviews, then all is well. Young staff (under 40) throughout the years has moved them into mainstream social media and new outlooks/ideas for projects and ways to achieve their goals of reaching men in all areas of life. Flexibility for time off or sick days, and the office closes 2 weeks for the Christmas holiday (people telework) to allow for extended visits with family.

Cons

Small staff so sometimes there are more events needed to attend than people to do so. Volunteer base for weekend health fairs is slim, so staff has to do some of these (though not too often). "Old school" views from the Director may sometimes inhibit moving forward on certain ideas/projects you may have (but supervisors were great for navigating those conversations to get us all on the right foot). With so many projects at the same time, you have to keep up on deadlines and create your own if you were not given one by your supervisor.
