Pros

Been able to grow from entry level to leadership in a reasonable amount of time with lots of support, mentorship and good management. I have a lot of control and strategic direction over my workplan and day to day activities. Love the people I work with, very passionate, good at their jobs, and fun to work with.

Cons

Normal nonprofit stuff. But way better off than most - financially stable, good systems/structures, and great staff

Pros

The staff is great! They are very enthusiastic about their work and projects. Great place for folks starting out in their policy career. The staff opted to become unionized. Great for them!

Cons

The CEO espouses transparency but the current organization restructure was planned out a year ago was revealed only after a few staff were laid off. Consultants are seemingly hired as "temp to perm" hires. The "temp to perm" hires are taking place just as new union negotiations are starting out. This tactic further adds to the lack of trust the staff has towards the CEO. The CEO is a micro-manager that is too involved with daily minutiae of individual positions across different departments. Understandably, sometimes there is some need for this oversight but leadership should also trust the managers are to be able to manage their own staff. Leadership should inspire. This leadership does the opposite.
