Pros

The kids are great! Loved working with them. It is a fast-paced environment, which I also loved. Most of the parents were great to work with. I enjoyed the teachers and administration. Good people.

Cons

The salary was low for my experience and education. The health insurance was not great. I thought I would have more time off in the summer, but it turned out to be about 4 weeks. The school issues that are becoming so common now are present, but not in the higher amounts one would see in other schools.

Pros

The leadership team while I worked there led by Robyn Ellis was amazing. They really worked to embody the type of people that they were pushing the students to be. This strong leadership set a tone for the rest of the team who worked there. They have high expectations of the teachers there and don't keep around teachers who aren't meeting those expectations. The result was a highly dedicated and talented teaching force. The teachers there, while vary in style, are all extremely dedicated professionals. I really enjoyed my time there. I learned a lot and worked with a lot of amazing people. The students there are also, generally, really great and eager to learn. It was a great school and a great place to be as a teacher.

Cons

The pay there is not as competitive as other school districts in the area. Hopefully this has changed. With it being a small school many teachers where a lot of hats. This means they are super busy and don't have a ton of spare time. The con of this is that they don't do a great job assigning or following through with mentoring other teachers. If you're a new teacher, if you don't reach out to others you might feel a little isolated.

Pros

Teachers are united by a sense of vision, an unfinished work in pursuing excellence in education. Tight-knit community where we know all the students. The high school is rated #2 in the state. Students have high expectations and work hard to meet rigorous standards.

Cons

Lower pay than public schools in the area. I get moved to teach where they need me without much say in the matter.
