This review warrants a response, as it does not reflect the organization we have built.
We find it difficult to reconcile this characterization with the environment we have worked hard to create — or with the fact that this individual chose to remain with IOTS for up to four years.
The suggestion that our managers are disorganized or unsupportive is directly contradicted by the extensive infrastructure we have in place for every member of our team:
• Structured step-by-step video learning modules covering their role in full
• Dedicated training videos for every change or update therapists are asked to implement
• Weekly elective virtual training meetings open to the full team
• Weekly 1:1 meetings with management
• A dedicated team Facebook page and WhatsApp group for real-time support
• A same-day response commitment — no one waits for answers here
• A full resource library covering every subject a therapist would encounter in practice
• Team-polled learning topics so our therapists help shape their own development
• Guest presenters from partner organizations to broaden clinical knowledge
On compensation: IOTS is proud to offer some of the highest pay in the occupational therapy sector in Ontario. Beyond base compensation, we also pay for travel, planning, preparation, and documentation time — expenses and hours that many other organizations in this sector simply do not compensate their staff for. We further provide extraordinarily strong individual and family benefits packages. We believe that exceptional people deserve to be compensated and cared for in every sense, and our total compensation package reflects that in full.
Occupational therapy in the MVA and rehabilitation sector is, by its very nature, a demanding field. We are transparent about that. Our clients are individuals navigating serious injuries, and the standard of care we hold ourselves to reflects that reality. We invest significantly in our people — in their development, their support, and their compensation — precisely because we believe that valued therapists deliver better outcomes for clients.
What is not reflected in this review is that our investment in our team members extends well beyond the professional. We support our people as whole human beings — through personal challenges, life circumstances, and everything in between. That is the culture we have built and the standard we hold ourselves to.
It is genuinely disheartening when years of that kind of investment are met with a characterization such as this. We wish this individual nothing but well, and we remain proud of the team and the organization we have built.
