Pros

The teachers are super nice, incredibly smart, and seem to have a completely different experience of the school. I do think Sinai is a good school, but that does not mean it's a good place to work. If working at a Jewish place is your #1 priority and you can't get a job at any other Jewish establishment, then go for it.

Cons

There is very high turnover due to incompetent and toxic administrative leadership. The environment is disfunctional, with poor communication, lack of trust, high stress, and low morale. While nothing was ever done or said to my face, there was a lot of high leadership who would bully and gossip about fellow coworkers and parents behind their backs. This is your fair warning. You are better off being unemployed than working here.

Pros

• Talented staff and educators who care deeply about their work • Opportunities to build systems and culture from the ground up • Some pockets of collaboration and innovation (if you seek them out) • Mission-aligned families and strong community values (especially in the early childhood space)

Cons

• Chronic role ambiguity and unclear expectations, especially for non-teaching staff • Leadership follow-through is inconsistent; proposals are often ignored or redirected without clarity • Emotional labor is essential to organizational function but rarely recognized or supported • Transitions are undocumented and system continuity often depends on the personal integrity of the person leaving • Top-down decision-making limits cross-functional input, especially in roles outside the classroom • Culture of micromanagement and “optics over substance” leadership behavior in some departments • Little space for strategic thinking unless you’re in a predefined leadership track
