The sales function is effectively a one-person operation. The sole AE unilaterally directs resources and changes, often with a rigid, “my way or the highway” mindset and little openness to constructive feedback. I was released from my contract without any prior warning or performance discussion, simply because my approach didn’t align with the AE’s preferences, despite the CEO being fully aligned and extremely pleased with the proposed changes.
Notably, the CEO set a KPI of two meetings per day, which I consistently achieved after the first onboarding week. The CEO was very pleased by this performance! However, the AE opposed the new philosophy. Rather than raising concerns directly to align on expectations, they chose to push for termination and replacement instead.
This outcome is unfortunate, especially given the company’s strong underlying potential.
