Pros
- The initial recruitment process seemed thorough, giving the impression of a company committed to hiring top talent.
- Some colleagues were kind and supportive, reaching out after I left to express sympathy for my experience.
Cons
- Toxic work environment: My experience at Lounge Underwear was overwhelmingly negative, leading me to become incredibly depressed during the time I worked here. I was subjected to bullying by my line manager, who displayed clear favoritism within the team. This behaviour included excluding me from conversations and ignoring me in group settings.
- Lack of support from HR: Despite raising concerns about my treatment and how it affected my health, HR ultimately dismissed my complaints, implying that I was the issue rather than addressing the root problems.
- High turnover: Since leaving, I’ve observed a significant number of employees leaving the company within months, indicating systemic cultural issues rather than isolated incidents.
- Misrepresentation of the role: The position I was hired for was mis-sold, with my responsibilities being akin to entry-level work despite being hired at a manager leveI. I was unfairly criticised for not performing at the expected managerial level, despite the role not providing opportunities to demonstrate such skills.
- Poor leadership: My boss in particular, along with other senior stakeholders within the business, lack the skills and experience necessary to effectively manage others. Promotions appear to be based on tenure within the company rather than merit or external expertise, leading to subpar leadership.
