Pros
Being part of a Magnet recognized organization promotes professional development and improves patient outcomes and makes for a great place to work. I have received support and encouragement to grow both personally and professionally.
Cons
The health care benefits are expensive, and the pay is below average. Also, if you are at top of scale for pay you are given a one-time bonus that does not equate to what you would have received if you were given a pay raise. Upper organizational nursing leaders don't really know what it looks like to be a nurse in the hospital or clinics on campus. They never see the day-to-day workings or how difficult the nursing jobs are in this high capacity, high acuity environment. The common employee is invisible to upper leadership.
