Pros
The school allows for students brand new to the country a community and opportunity to build their education outside of the pressures of mainstream.
Members of my team (curriculum manager, teachers, and support staff) were extremely supportive and good people. Creative freedom was encouraged.
I received lots of on-the-job training from everything from maths education to safeguarding.
Starting salary good for entry level position, and increases with positive mid-year reviews. Pro-rata salary is paid equally throughout the year.
Cons
Constant cuts to the budget, teachers, support staff, and 3 restructures, etc. should have been a red flag. I was constantly asked to cover classes due to poor staffing, which was explicitly not in my job description. Staff shortages meant larger class sizes, and this frequently led to conflicts and fights between the students.
In the end the HR department almost had me deported because of their incompetence. They promised in writing they had initiated my Skilled Worker visa, but in fact had not. No severance package allotted despite the termination (due to unexpected visa expiration) being their fault.
