Pros

Working as a Nurse Navigator in the Serious Illness Pod at Thyme Care has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences of my nursing career. Our work centers on supporting members with serious illness as they navigate complex cancer journeys. We help them better understand their diagnoses, provide education around palliative care, and create space for important conversations about quality of life and advance care planning. It’s deeply purpose-driven work, and I feel incredibly proud to be part of a team that is truly committed to closing the gap in healthcare for our members. The culture here stands out in a way that feels rare in healthcare. The environment is uplifting, collaborative, and genuinely supportive. The nurse team leads in the Serious Illness Pod are exceptional—knowledgeable, approachable, and always willing to guide us through complex clinical situations. They consistently advocate for our team, especially when it comes to balancing quality care with performance metrics. While metrics can feel daunting—particularly in my first remote role—I’ve always felt supported and reassured that quality and compassionate care come first. Leadership across the organization is understanding, accommodating, and truly values work/life balance. That support is tangible. The HR team and our Clinical People Business Partner have been incredibly responsive and helpful, reinforcing that employees are valued as people, not just productivity numbers. One of the most impressive aspects of the organization is its ability to recruit individuals who genuinely share the same mission and values. The passion for helping people with cancer navigate their journey is palpable across teams. Overall, I feel fortunate to work in an organization that prioritizes compassion, teamwork, and mission-driven care while also supporting its employees’ well-being and professional growth.

Cons

As with any rapidly growing startup, there are growing pains. Processes evolve, and change happens quickly. However, those challenges have also created meaningful opportunities for growth. I’ve been given the chance to expand my skills, take on new responsibilities, and grow within my role in ways that feel both supported and sustainable.
