Pros

Full support. This is a difficult job - don't get me wrong - but you will be given a great amount of support to learn it. The bosses really know their stuff and will genuinely try to teach you it. Preference for older workers which is a real plus. If you're 30+ and can be sociable, and need a job at short notice, try this. You will at least get minimum wage for your work rather than just commision. Some marketing companies only pay commision which can mean you can basically waste your time and effort at work with them. You'll get a LOT of practice in talking to people. To achieve your targets you will need to speak to at least a couple of hundred people until you "get good". Staff are really genuinely nice. Even the managers are really dead on, which is a shock. I know a lot of people put that on glassdoor but I mean it. Commision is fantastic, if you qualify (4 signups per day for the whole period you work that week) and massively boosts your wages. You get PAYE tax and direct deposits into your account, every month IIRC.

Cons

Some of the venues can be extremely cold. You will usually be in shopping centres, but in the cold times of year smaller shops with really bad heating can come up so be careful. It's not easy. You can talk to hundreds of people and though most are dismissive at worst - which is fine - some can be nasty so you will have to develop a bit of a thick skin. The target is 4 direct debit sign ups a day. Once you get into a groove this is doable but it really, really is not easy. Remember though this is for a charity and they rely on this money greatly. You get 12 "protected" weeks where you are learning. After this if you struggle to meet the target you will get let go - but you will be given a lot of support to get this. You have to accept that this is the nature of the job.
