Pros

It's clear that the company was built with care and intention. Being BCBA-owned and led makes a big difference in how decisions are made and services are delivered. There's a strong sense that MBC cares about staff and consistently goes above and beyond to support employees. Thoughtfulness is reflected in many aspects of the organization. The company offers nice PTO, including paid time off for your birthday, company holidays, and one personal holiday per year. They also do a good job working with employees on scheduling changes and are typically able to accommodate changes with enough notice. Because MBC is a small company, there is flexibility to adjust jobs to match what employees are interested in and let staff grow in areas they enjoy.

Cons

Maintaining enough staff can be challenging at times, which is not uncommon in ABA. It is known that MBC is actively looking to add another BCBA. Once that position is filled, it should help create more balance.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re so glad to hear that you’ve felt supported in exploring your career interests and that you’ve had opportunities to learn and grow here - that’s exactly what we strive for as part of our company values! We also hear you on the challenges with staffing and the busier pace during the summer. This is an area we’re actively addressing by hiring new team members and finding ways to better balance workloads throughout the year. We also have plans in place for next summer to help ensure a smoother transition into summer programming. Thank you again for your feedback. It helps us continue to strengthen and grow our MBC community!

Pros

-Phenomenal staff, like seriously. Diverse, knowledgeable, sociable, and invested in their clients -MBC went above and beyond for me in multiple times of need, and I’m sure they’d do the same for other staff -Their therapeutic approach is nearly unmatched -Private company, promises to never go public/expand (other than the owner’s vision to open a school) -Quarterly staff outings, early closing on Fridays -PTO accrual is fair, but you can also pull from your PTO bank -Starting pay is above what most companies offer experienced RBTs -MBC gives clients opportunities they might have never had. Their summer camp program offers field trips for clients.

Cons

No company is perfect -Staffing can be an issue. I understand trying to avoid over staffing as much as possible, but if more than 2 people call out, and there’s people on PTO, it’s near catastrophic. Coverage needs are consistently high, especially during times when staff are sick. Summer also turns chaotic. -Although starting pay is fair, promotions and raises are a different story. Many people have mentioned they have taken on more responsibilities without the adequate raise in pay. -Temporary specialist positions like camp lead are entirely voluntary with no incentive/bonus/stipend. -BCBAs seemed to be overworked. I am aware that they are trying to hire another BCBA, which is good. -Marissa herself is the owner and a BCBA with a decent caseload. She’s a very hard worker and does so much for her company, but i feel her clients are left to the wayside. -They introduced committees not too long ago, in theory they seem nice but it’s just creating even more work that we did not sign on for initially.

Thank you for your thoughtful and detailed feedback. We’re so glad to hear you had a positive experience with our team, clinical approach, and the support provided to both staff and clients - those are things we truly value. We also appreciate you highlighting areas where we could improve. Staffing and coverage challenges, especially during peak times, are areas we are actively working to improve through continued hiring. We hear your concerns around compensation, growth, and incentives, and we are continuously evaluating how to better align these with team contributions while being a small company. We also recognize the importance of maintaining manageable workloads, particularly for our BCBAs, and are taking steps to support this as we continue to look for an amazing BCBA to join our team. Feedback on newer initiatives, like committees, is helpful as we refine their purpose and expectations. Thank you again for your time at MBC and for taking the time to share your experience!
