Pros
Their clothing swaps are great community building events.
Cons
I Love A Clean San Diego is an apolitical environmental nonprofit. Their entire focus is on individual action and they do things like teach people how to recycle or do beach cleanups when the real way to solve the pollution and plastics crisis is to make systemic changes. They do not take a stance on any legislation (even if its olastic reducing legislation) or acknowledge the real problems with recycling. Their clean-ups in the past have also displaced unhoused people living at the sites where there is going to be the most publicity. They get corporate sponsors like Sempra, a huge fossil-fuel company, or Wells Fargo and Bank of America which are both some of the largest fossil fuel investing banks in the world. Those clean-ups are greenwashing events for corporate sponsors to make it appear like they care about the environment.
