I completed my first co-op term at Bristol Capital with no prior directly relevant experience, and it was an incredibly rewarding introduction to the industry. The management team was very supportive, and the work environment was welcoming and collaborative. I was given a high level of autonomy, which allowed me to learn quickly and build confidence, especially through hands-on experience with cold calling. Everyone on the team was always willing to step in, offer guidance, and support one another. Overall, it was a great first co-op experience that taught me a lot about wealth management and working in a client-focused environment.
Cons
The role is highly client-focused, so you need to be comfortable handling objections, rebuttals, and frequent client interactions. It’s best suited for someone who enjoys communication and is confident in a fast-paced, people-facing environment.
