The benefits are decent and the city itself is great.

There is nepotism throughout City Hall in key positions. Additionally, there is a lack of accountability in leadership. They promote based on your relationship, not your contributions or capacity to advance city interests. Sister-in-law is a deputy director without any leadership skills or experience and speaks to employees like children. Public safety leadership doesn't know she's a DD and is stifled in her presence, which she seems unaware of. She's not listed on the website (which she maintains, interestingly). HR is compromised in its relationships to employees and city employees don't trust them. It's well-known throughout. Many higher positions in the city speak poorly about other departments, especially the mayor and her friends and family employed.
