Turbulent, meatgrinder with no soul - Account Manager Social Value Portal Employee Review

Pros

Office was nice, some smart and purpose driven colleagues at management and below.

Cons

Toxic leadership team, short sighted decision-making, poor communication. The culture here was ruthless. Every quarter, a new cull of personnel during my time there, as the leadership team constantly changed tack and then fired a swathe of employees due to failure to hit overly ambitious revenue goals. The stated purpose of helping businesses to increase social value has long fallen by the wayside, in place of the publicly stated goal of the CEO to sell the company and cash out. This means that every decision seems to be made with a short term view of immediate business sales valuation, rather than long term strategic priorities. Warning - check out the dates on the sudden splurges of 5 star reviews that appear in clusters on this feed and decide for yourself whether they are genuine employees.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your time at SVP did not meet your expectations. We recognise that periods of rapid growth and change can be challenging, and we understand how organisational changes and evolving priorities may have impacted your experience. While we may not agree with the characterisation in your review, we take feedback like this seriously and reflect on it carefully. Our mission to help organisations deliver and measure Social Value remains central to what we do, and we continue to invest in our people, products, and customers to support that purpose sustainably over the long term. Like many growing businesses, we have had to make difficult decisions at times, but these are never taken lightly. We also appreciate your comments around communication and collaboration between leadership and frontline teams. Ensuring that employee perspectives and customer insights are heard is something we continue to work on and improve across the business. In relation to your comments about employee reviews, we want to be clear that we encourage honest and voluntary feedback from both current and former employees, and we do not ask anyone to leave disingenuous reviews. We value transparency and recognise that experiences can differ across teams and over time. We wish you all the best in your future career and thank you for the contributions you made during your time with us.

Pros

Career development and project exposure. They really will just throw anything at you regardless of your experience level.

Cons

I am genuinely astounded reading that there are any positive reviews for SVP. As a past employee I still see the same cycle of talented passionate people being ground down to the point of breakdowns. The culture is incredibly toxic. Management are painfully uncaring and short sighted. They will use you to the point of breaking and expect you to be happy for the opportunity. I genuinely feel like this company is like a cult. Very few people seem to have carved out a healthy work pattern for themselves, everyone else is scrambling to keep up. They throw benefits at you without increasing your pay. They expect long hours and don’t catch you when you fall. If you have it in you to do two fast paced years and get all the experience you need from it, go ahead, but if you value work life balance and your mental health, stay away. Also, the mission driven facade makes the toxic culture even more painful. B corp?! No way!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and share your perspective. We’re sorry to hear that your experience at SVP left you feeling this way, and we’re particularly sorry that you didn’t feel able to raise these concerns with us while you were here. We never want any employee to feel unsupported, overwhelmed, or unable to speak openly about their wellbeing or workload. While we recognise that fast growth and ambitious goals can create pressure at times, creating a healthy and supportive environment for our people remains incredibly important to us. We do appreciate your positive comments around career development and project exposure. Many people who join SVP do gain broad experience and opportunities to grow quickly, but this should never come at the expense of wellbeing or sustainable ways of working. Your feedback on workload, culture, and leadership is being taken seriously. We also want to respectfully acknowledge that experiences can vary significantly across teams, managers, and time periods. We continue to invest in improving communication, leadership development, and the support available to employees as the business evolves. Finally, we want to be clear that our mission and B Corp commitments are deeply important to us and continue to shape the work we do internally as well as externally. We know we won’t always get everything right, but feedback like yours plays an important role in helping us improve. We genuinely wish you the very best for the future and thank you for the contributions you made during your time with us.

Pros

Clear communication from the top, great benefits, amazing team and culture. I have great support from my manager and it's clear the company cares about individuals.

Cons

Workload is a bit crazy at times and sometimes feels chaotic, but I think that's normal for a company like ours.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for your thoughtful feedback. We’re really pleased to hear that you’ve felt supported by your manager and team, and that our culture, communication, and benefits have contributed positively to your experience at SVP. Creating an environment where people feel valued and supported is incredibly important to us, so it’s great to see that reflected in your review. We also appreciate your honest comments around workload and pace. As a growing and ambitious business, there are times when priorities move quickly, and we recognise that this can sometimes feel challenging for teams. Your feedback about understanding team capacity and balancing competing demands is valuable, and it’s something we continue to focus on as we grow and evolve. Thank you again for your contribution and for being part of the team.
