Pros
The primary advantage of working at Eclipse Specialty and Emergency Pet Care is the compensation, which is highly competitive. Additionally, you will find a few dedicated individuals on the staff who genuinely care about the patients and the quality of medicine being practiced.
Cons
Unfortunately, the negative aspects of this hospital heavily outweigh the benefits. The workplace culture is incredibly cliquey and operates much like a boys' club, particularly for female employees in leadership. Because all the owners are men, they frequently side with other men regardless of the actual facts or the point being made. Leadership promotes a false narrative of supporting their staff, but if you are in a management role trying to correct issues, they will consistently side with floor staff to avoid conflict, regardless of the damage it causes. There is a severe lack of accountability; the employment experience officer breached HIPAA and made highly unprofessional comments without facing any disciplinary action. Most alarmingly, reporting a medical error resulted in direct retaliation, as I was blocked from picking up on-call shifts until I changed my "attitude." Furthermore, there is no room for open dialogue. If you are a direct communicator or use sarcasm, it is often misconstrued as an attack. Instead of addressing the situation constructively or hearing both sides of the story, management will simply label you "abrasive" and jump straight to writing you up. Additionally, their time off policies are highly problematic. They do not separate PTO and state mandated sick time into different banks, and they will illegally apply this combined time if you are late without your consent. This practice is incredibly ableist and disproportionately penalizes employees managing chronic illnesses. Between the unrealistic expectations, questionable HR practices, and toxic leadership style, the few good people left are not enough to make working here worth your time.
