Pros
- Flexibility of time - Office building is new - Decent snacks
Cons
- The role was not as described. My skills were underused, but the workload was high. I felt my technical skills declined over time. - In my opinion, the pay is low for the workload. You may handle multiple areas alone with little support. I also felt others sometimes got credit for my work. -Much of the work is in Mandarin, even though the company presents itself as international. Translation tools are not very helpful, and many support engineers have limited English, so you may need to solve issues on your own. - In my experience, Mandarin-speaking staff had an advantage. This made it harder to be noticed and limited career growth. - The tech stack is China-focused and may not transfer well to other companies. Overall, based on my experience, I would suggest thinking carefully before joining, especially if you do not speak Mandarin, and consider other options first. If you expect a culture similar to FAANG companies, my experience was quite different, so don’t be too quick to join just because the job description looks good or matches your career goals, as this was my mistake. If you have strong academic results or solid work experience, there may be better opportunities elsewhere.
