Cons

One of the most difficult professional experiences I have had. In my opinion, the school environment often operated through pressure, fear, and excessive control rather than support and professionalism. There appeared to be a strong focus on image, PR, and marketing, while employee wellbeing and educational quality felt secondary. I personally experienced significant stress during my resignation and exit process. Instead of handling the situation in a supportive and professional manner, management created unnecessary pressure surrounding visa and employment procedures. The situation eventually became a legal matter, and the court ruled in my favor. This experience raised serious concerns for me regarding the school’s HR practices and understanding of legal processes. The academic management environment felt highly toxic. Communication was often passive-aggressive, and teachers who raised concerns or asked questions sometimes felt ignored afterward instead of supported professionally. Leadership appeared more focused on maintaining authority and protecting positions than creating a healthy work environment. Another concern was favoritism and unequal treatment based on nationality. In my experience, some staff members with Western passports appeared to receive more flexibility and support than other teachers, regardless of actual performance or professionalism. This created low morale among many employees. Teachers were frequently monitored and worked under an atmosphere of distrust. Gossip, pressure, and lack of transparent communication contributed to a stressful workplace culture. Work-life balance was also poor, with staff often expected to stay after hours for events without overtime compensation. Accommodation provided by the school did not fully match what had been promised during recruitment. The apartments were not properly furnished or maintained, and the overall environment felt restrictive rather than supportive. There also appeared to be ongoing issues related to contracts, visa sponsorship, and employment procedures. Policies sometimes seemed inconsistent, and many employees felt pressured to accept unfair conditions due to visa dependency. High staff turnover was another major issue. Multiple teachers resigned within a short period of time, which reflected the general dissatisfaction among employees. Unfortunately, management did not appear willing to reflect on the reasons behind the turnover. I also observed disrespectful treatment toward some non-teaching staff, including drivers, which suggested broader problems with workplace culture and employee relations. Cons: Toxic management culture, favoritism, inconsistent policies, weak communication, high staff turnover, unpaid extra work, accommodation concerns, and poor employee support.
