Marketing business, rather than accounting practice - Accountant Sedulo Group (UK) Employee Review

Pros

Free bar in each office

Cons

Bad pay with worse governance, expected to get work completed in unrealistic deadlines without being supported and expected to work in own time to get the work done. There are historical accounting errors based on under qualified people being hired which means much longer is required on the job. When senior managers come to the office, there’s a bravado that’s put on specifically for them (why hide what the firm’s like?). There’s been such little change over the years despite years of people writing negative reviews and offering healthy suggestions to the business. Staff are heard but ignored. A weekly happiness score is sent to staff but if you score low, you’re seen to be the problem. When you discuss what can be done to improve (ie hire staff to support/ getting paid for hours worked) nothing is done to change the problem. High focus on non-accounting related work that staff are expected to attend.

Pros

- Free bar, with a good range of drinks (not a pro, if you don't drink). - Nice office locations

Cons

- Toxic Culture at the top that trickles down - Low pay (much lower than industry standards) - Poor internal structures (teams offer little/ no support) i.e if manager is on leave, then no one to help as teams are too small and don't have appropriate support networks. - Poor communication across departments. - Poor training and support - Expectations to attend networking events in evenings - Long working hours (no over time/ TOIL/ bonuses). - High staff turnover - High grad intake (to perhaps increase staff numbers?) - "World Class Treatment" for clients, but not staff. - Non-attendance of events leads to being labelled as not being cooperative/ team player (even when during weekends)
