Good salary but toxic politics and poor leadership - Engineer British Columbia Rapid Transit Company Employee Review

Pros

Good salary. Always ongoing works.

Cons

Extremely political. Company absolutely does not care about the employees, even if you are super experienced. Leadership does not know what "leadership" is. They have mandatory work from the office policy which is ridiculous, you have to be in the office even if you are reading some documents. You will have the worst work/life balance if you have a family.

Pros

do not have to work that hard A lot of tax payer cash is floating around. can do whatever with the budget and no one cares.

Cons

mediocre or poor performers are rewarded and high performers are silenced. there are explicit cases of discrimination, sexism, misogyny, racism, favouritism, nepotism, homophobia that everyone knows about them and but no one cares about doing anything about it. In fact, management are actually either encouraging it or they would punish anyone daring to bring it forward. the HR department pretty much does not exist. the management team has actually created some of the horrific cultures in the maintenance team. there have been a number of complains about some staff urinating all over the women washrooms. gender neutral washrooms being vandalized; gay staff being mocked in front of their peers; rainbow crosswalk being vandalized; explicit misogynistic comments are made about some of the female leaders; some people of colour being told to go back to where they came from; some interview processes are overlooked completely and some staff in charge are hiring their friends and relatives who have no merits for the jobs.
