Pros
Working directly with one co-owner was a genuinely positive experience. Their hands-on leadership, industry knowledge, and understanding of daily operations made the job easier and more manageable. Having shared food industry experience created a supportive working relationship, and that direct leadership was often the strongest part of the role.
Cons
Hostility and poor communication from other ownership created unnecessary stress and tension. Emails and oversight often felt dismissive and disconnected from daily operations, which negatively impacted workplace culture. Compensation growth was also very limited, as after nearly four years I had to personally advocate for even a minimal raise, which felt discouraging and underappreciated.
