Pros
Colleagues are the best thing at WBA. Plus the flexibility of working fully remote.
Cons
-Incompetent leadership that are terrible at taking feedback. They think they know it all but none of the Directors have previous experience running an organization.
-Leadership and those close to them behave as if the organization is a cult. They expect people to look into each other’s eyes and share their vulnerabilities (This actually happened during an off-site in 2023). If you are not happy with sharing your vulnerabilities, they say the door is open for you to leave. Some people in senior positions even ask about your love and intimate life.
-Forget about salary increases and career growth. Unless you are lucky and white. If you are white, you can even have roles you are not qualified for! Just make sure to fall in line. That’s it! Be lucky, be white and fall in line.
-Two of the Directors are in a romantic relationship. Even though it is public, ethics be damned! It does not help they travel the world together on “company time”.
-In 2025 they did two rounds of layoffs and blamed the funding landscape. In reality, they made financially irresponsible decisions. Leadership is allergic to being held accountable!
-Leadership says they care about impact and the mission of the organization, but their actions say otherwise. They lead based on their own preferences.
-When you interview for them it all seems wonderful. But you know what they say: “if something is too good to be true, then it probably is”.
