Pros

Charity People is a great place to work if you are looking to align your values with what you do at work. The company is very clear on its values and expresses it well through how it acts, than through what it says. One of the main values is inclusion and it's really interesting to see how everyone embodies it in their daily interactions and thought processes. The whole recruitment cycle is built with EDI in mind which is fantastic. Work is rewarding as it is supporting charities through top class recruitment, and seeing what goes into the whole process is quite inspiring as everyone really works hard. Everyone is genuinely nice and really collaborative, there is a strong team spirit and an open, welcoming attitude from the first day.

Cons

I am fairly new and it's been a positive experience throughout so far, so no cons from me!

Pros

They were an incredibly flexible employer, built on enviable values, with a hugely "family feel".

Cons

Recent changes in management have completely eroded the culture. It's all top-down management, KPIs, authoritarian rules, withdrawal of commission due to mismanaged cash flow, and a complete lack of transparent communication during periods of change. They've lost what made them unique and started to install the sort of Recruitment 101 money-first initiatives that are common in the other garden variety recruitment specialists in this space. Unfortunately, I think the new management team has leant on bad management techniques learned from previous employment at companies I really wouldn't want to be associated with.

Charity People Response
1y
Thank you for taking the time out to share your perspective about your time with Charity People, and we're sorry to read how you feel about your experience. For transparency, we changed the schedule on our commission scheme to respond to adverse market conditions, but all consultants received the commission they were owed. This happened due to a couple of factors that were outside the control of the company but was also in part due to a significant number of consultants failing to hit their pre agreed targets. And because of acting, we’re pleased to say that this has led to the company being in a more stable and profitable place. Again, thanks for taking the time to share your opinion, we do appreciate it.
