Pros

It is fun to work with Edge Tutor International because they've been offering training for grammar, pronunciations, mastering interrogative, etc., which is a great refresher for teachers.

Nothing else to say about this

Pros

They are nice at first.

Cons

PENALTIES: Their penalties are extremely high. Penalty for 1 class is almost 4 times your pay per class. Do the math if you have 8 classes you'd want to he cancelled, then that would take most of your pay. They can waive your penalties ONLY IF you have a medical certificate or proof of your emergency. Otherwise, if the reason of your absence is sudden power interruption or no internet connection, you will be penalized because they expect you to have back up power and internet as if they are paying you much per class. PAYMENT: Pay per booking; some of their advertisement say it's 200 pesos per hour, no it's not. It's 180 pesos per hour. Sudden cancellations of students aren't paid. Group lessons are paid the same with Private lessons (1 on 1). Student absence is only 50 pesos. MICROMANAGING: Their micromanagement is too much. They would ask you to attend huddles once a week - this isn't paid. They also have this website where you have to keep on completing some modules (which the videos you watch are AI-generated). If you failed to complete them, someone will keep on sending you mail telling you to complete the module - again, this is unpaid. SCHEDULE: In their advertisement, they say the schedule is flexible. Don't be deceived. It is not flexible and you can't control the opening and closing of your slots. If you are a new hire, you will have to commit evening shifts u til you can choose your own schedule for the next quarter. If you want to close or open a slot, you sill have to request it from your account manager or lesson supports. Also, if you open 5 lesson slots, there is no assurance that you will have the maximum number of classes which is 5. Why? Because they have group classes that can book by the half hour - example, 2:30-3:30, meaning this 1 lesson slot will take 2 lesson slots, and of course, your anticioated pay will be lower if this happens. And if your student suddenly cancelled his class, then you will be left with an open booking which has a very low chance of getting booked because students can only book up to 2 hours before the lesson time, not unless there is a class to be subbed that you can take. COWORKERS: You can see a lot of "sipsip" towards the management. They complain about some situations, but during huddles, they will not say anything about it. Instead, they will say "we understand naman po." HIRING: They keep on hiring but their current teachers don't get fully booked with their slots. LEAVE / TIME-OFF: With the account where I was, there isn't any leave or time-off. You have to swap off these lessons to another date. Their reason: all classes are accounted for for the month. It's very rare for them to approve a time-off. And when the gasoline crisis hit the country, I heard from someone who is still in this company that the admin constantly posts things like their teachers should now invest to back-ups - like they should have their power stations, and if the main ISP is PLDT, they can have Converge, Smart, Globe, Dito, etc as their secondary ISPs.
