Pros

- The folks on both the EL and DF side were for the most part great. - CEO/CFO are good at selling snake oil to insurance/counsel

Cons

- non-existent work life balance - No bonuses - No equity - No 401k matching - “Unlimited PTO” that you’re too busy to even take - Extremely toxic work environment (perpetuated almost entirely by the C-level folks) - CEO/CFO that have zero respect for their employees - A CEO who is quick to put his employees down in a non-constructive way - 0 transparency on company’s short-term, actionable goals. (The team is under 20 people) - No visible future as it stands (see previous point)

Pros

The work is rewarding and you are able to learn a lot quickly. Being a startup allows you to implement processes and enact positive change in real time. Great people and team. I have experienced a lot of flexibility. There was a lot of turnover in the beginning and I feel that those that are not used to manual forensics or the volume of DFIR startup will not be happy. The problem staff have been dealt with or left and the team that is being built is great! They have treated me very well and allowed me to flourish in my niche. This is my third startup and it is not for the weak, it's the same with any newer DFIR firm. I personally went through very serious life altering challenges that made it so I had to take a leave of absence and was blown away by the support I received.

Cons

As with any straight DFIR firm the workload can get heavy. They have been rapidly hiring to offset the strain. On call is standard and should improve as we continue to hire. It is still a growing company so we face challenges from a technical & process standpoint at times but in the time I have been here we have implemented new processes and technologies that are improving this pain point. There are growing pains but that's what makes startup great.

Pros

Working at IronGate Cyber Security offers a unique blend of professional challenge and supportive culture. The company is deeply committed to balancing employee well-being with exceptional client delivery, especially in the demanding field of Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR). While the nature of DFIR often requires work outside of normal business hours, sometimes during high-pressure, time-sensitive investigations, IronGate’s leadership team actively works to offset this by implementing a structured on-call rotation. This system helps distribute after-hours responsibilities more fairly and allows team members to plan their personal time with greater predictability. Employees at IronGate benefit from a strong, collaborative team environment that emphasizes mutual support and shared growth. The company’s focus on delivering high-quality outcomes to clients fosters a sense of professional pride and offers valuable exposure to complex, real-world cybersecurity challenges. At the same time, IronGate is a growing business, and employees have the opportunity to contribute directly to its evolution, shaping both its culture and operational practices

Cons

The intensity of the DFIR industry can lead to fluctuating workloads and periods of high stress, particularly during major incidents. Even with an on-call system in place, there may be times when the entire team is needed to respond quickly, which can limit downtime and recovery.
