A way to gain skills as a SW, but wouldn't recommend - Support Worker Mable Employee Review

Pros

Great way to gain independence as a support worker and trial working for yourself, most of the clients are nice, you can pick your rates.

Cons

It took me over a month to get paid for each shift, leading to my customer ceasing our contract due to Mable's tardiness. Mable provides no assistance, and just recycles the same stock standard message about fees and payments without actually trying to help. Very isolating, you need to pay yourself superannuation and there's no way to add KMs. A lot of clients will try to talk you down to rates below minimum wage, so be aware!

Thank you for taking the time to provide such thoughtful and detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear you valued the opportunity to work with our Ruby on Rails monolith, our hybrid work model and the mission-driven nature of what we do. We also appreciate your comments about clarity of roles, delivery processes and rituals such as retrospectives and estimation. We agree that these elements are important for creating effective, empowered teams and for supporting our team to do meaningful work. Our squads adopt these practices as they stabilise, although when a new squad is formed or begins new streams of work, it can take time to move through the early stages of team development and establish the right ceremonies and rhythms. During these periods, we encourage managers to work closely with their teams to help create clarity and reduce friction. It's disappointing to hear that your experience didn't reflect this, particularly around feeling that suggestions weren't welcomed. That's not the environment we aim to create, and your feedback is an important reminder of the impact these moments can have. Many team members share positive experiences of openness and collaboration from our leaders, but we take your perspective seriously and will reflect on how we can strengthen this across all teams.
