Pros
They are very, very flexible with scheduling. They have maybe around 40 or 50 water attendants so you can usually find someone to cover a shift if you need it. It is an easy job. I like the managers and you are treated well if you do your job correctly. It can be fun at times. There is opportunity for advancement. They will pay for your lifeguarding class if you agree to work at Massanutten, and from there you could be promoted to supervisor, manager and possibly work your way up in the company. They have good insurance and if you are full time they enter you into some type of 401 K or stock option plan, I am not exactly sure what it is, and they put extra money in it for you, which is a very nice thing to do.
Cons
Sometimes, it's hard to get hours when it's slow there, and then they may give you a lot more hours than you requested when it's busy during holidays and summer. So your hours will vary. It gets extremely hectic during the summer and holidays, and then extremely slow and boring the rest of the time. It can get over 100 degrees in some places in the water park in the summer and the chlorine in the air get's really bad at times. It's a 365 day resort so they expect you to be there when there's a foot of snow on the ground. Be prepared to ask everyone who goes down a slide if they've read the rule card, which gets annoying to me and very annoying to the patrons.
