Pros
No many, the only one I can mention is the you have a job that help pay your bill.
Cons
I do not recommend working for MDCPS. Firstly, they have a history of not treating their employees without respect. When conflicts arises with the students, they administration takes the side of the students. The Union will pretend to support you as a teacher but they will abandon you later.
Student’s behavior has a very high detrimental degree. Additionally, communication from administrators is not good. If you get in trouble with students, they might pass your case to the district, and you will be in hot waters. It is important to mention that assistant principals will not support you with students discipline, and if any student complaints about a teacher they will believe the student and write up the teacher, sending the record to the district. . Like most school district they only care about passing a test, so the administrators will be on top of you 5 days a week pushing you to the limit. Benefits are lousy. Miami Dade County Public School District has one of the worst teacher salaries in the nation. Run apply to other schools if you want to avoid headaches.
The human resources office is also terrible; they will do their best to cut your previous teaching years to pay you less.
