A lot of weird rules: - Mandatory book clubs and other events after work, At your own expense. during onboarding, You are handed a checklist of "tasks" you must complete with your mentor (supervisor who hired you) and these events are part of them. It's at your own expense regarding gas and food. - You are also expected to memorize and recite back pages of "systems" that are really just a list of random business outlooks and mottos. verbatim. there are like,,,8 diffrent pages of them. Completing it is part of your checklist - Biggest red flag: This position is advertised as a customer service position that is $500 a week plus uncapped bonus. Actually, It's really a sales position with $400 base pay plus $100 for Gas plus sales commission . However, You lose your $400 base pay when you exceed $500 in sales. You are guaranteed $500 a week. ($400 +$100 gas allowance) That is 100% of your base pay. however, If you exceed $500 in sales, your base pay is replaced by the sales commissions you worked for. Math-wise, if you make $475 in sales ( each sale is $25) your paycheck will be your $500 base pay plus your $475 in sales, equaling $975. However, If you make $500 in sales.. you get ... $600. ( you get your gas allowance regardless but you lose your base pay). This makes the pyramid scheme legal. You aren't salary if they can take away base pay. You literally have to work harder to get back to what you would of earned if you had made equal to or less than $475 in sales. The expectation is 30 sales a week to get promoted which intentionally puts you over that $500 limit The entire structure of MEM is to have employees reach 2 weeks of 30 sales so you can " become your own boss and hire your own team " and then when your hires achive 2 weeks of 30 sales, they can hire their own team making,,, a pyramid. Overall, This is not a customer service job as advertized, You stand in a Costco for 5 hours ( your schedule changes every week, Expect to work weekends) and you sell water or home warrenties to shoppers. you are also given PAGES of virtual legal documents to sign. However, You have to sign them all at the orientation table. You cant read them over at home. After asking, I was told i was not allowed to sign them at home, I had to sign before I left. Totally sketchy
Lastly, Supervisors tell you that you have to work extra to “make up” time and sales missed if You schedule time off. You are also expected to show up early but won’t be compensated.
