Pros
Great Agile practices; total Agile buy-in. Well architected code base, descended from an Open Source ecommerce foundation in PHP/Symfony No drama, no egos, just clean code. I improved my code while here. Was bought 2 years ago by Office Depot; that gives some economies of scale for profitability. Wasn't sure whether to put this as a bug or a feature: except for a couple front end folks, the team is expected to be Full Stack, including dev ops, so you will be expected to cover the CI, deploy, cloud provider aspects as well as the mostly back end code itself. You will wear many hats.
Cons
Was bought 2 years ago by Office Depot a company that disrespects its own IT department. OD went through a brain-exodus they made their IT team so much smaller/offshore. Their institutional knowledge took a big hit: there's a lot in OD's tech that they don't understand themselves. But thankfully OfficeSupply.com is still independently run so this mostly affects OfficeSupply.com by making it hard to get consistent technical information or direction from the mother ship. If your position at OfficeSupply.com ends, severance pay is zero, unused vacation days are lost, and pay stops at the last minute of that day.
