Pros
It’s sweet getting to work with dogs outside and get to know their personalities. You get to play with dogs and even teach them new things. Each day has an overall theme and coordinates with what the dogs will be doing that day. There’s a lot of flexibility of what activities you can do with the pets. You can bring your own pet to daycare for free. Management made it easy to be able to have a work life balance. Paid weekly
Cons
You are by yourself outside and left with a walkie talkie. You aren’t allowed to leave the daycare until you either put them all inside a tiny shed or call for someone to watch them while you run to the bathroom. Help usually comes but sometimes can take up to several minutes or just forgotten about. This could be extremely dangerous in the event that you get attacked by one of the dogs (which never happened to me thankfully) but it’s definitely something to consider. If there are cameras watching over the daycare, I was never told but from what I can tell, there was one camera pointing directly to the door leaving the daycare leading into the inside of the building. In the case of dogs attacking each other or attacking the daycare attendant, there would be no evidence of anything happening. It’s a safety issue. There’s no real supervision other than having the one daycare attendant. Management was unbothered by the wellbeing of the animals in their care. I’ve witnessed dogs being smacked on their noses when management walks into the daycare area. Again you are by yourself and there can be sometimes up to 15+ dogs all in the same area in daycare. (Which is unsuitable considering the small size of the pen) It’s extremely difficult for one person to keep an eye on every dog in that situation. At the end of the day you have to take them inside and fill up the empty kennels to prepare the pets for pickup. More often than not, I would run out of kennels to put them in and have to group dogs in the same kennel that did not get picked up together by the same owner. Management was well aware of this issue but chose to do nothing but continue to accept more and more pets for daycare. Their are some dogs that don’t get along with the other dogs in daycare and are left all day in a kennel. I’ve witnessed management being dishonest to the customers about how well their dogs are getting along in daycare when their pet is being left in a kennel all day. Management doesn’t receive criticism well and hangs up on customers. Receiving paychecks were always a hassle but was received weekly by check. I’ve heard screaming and yelling at the dogs in the kennel to “shut up” being said by management. Kennels are already high stress on animals as it is. I witnessed a dog with worms and reported it immediately to management and was promptly taken care of but when the same dog came back the next week, the worms were still present and management told me not to worry about it because that pet has already received medical attention and is boarding at the daycare now. Unsure if this incident was reported to the owner but as a pet owner I wouldn’t be comfortable having my pet in this establishment.
