Pros

easy to get an interview

Cons

Summed up into loading a carpool of people to go beg in front of storefronts to promote one shady charity. They push this "marketing leadership program" no matter what position you apply for. They claimed after 4 months I would be able to recruit and lead a team of 8 people, same for everyone who enters. I'm sure that's sustainable.

Pros

The people that work there are friendly

Cons

This job is a complete scam. The "events" that they talk about are just you and one other person setting up a table outside of a Safeway, Rite Aid, etc. and asking every single person you see for money donations. Their job position was listed as an "event assistant" and I thought that sounded like something up my alley and I was really desperate for a job at the time(bills to pay you know). I knew I was going to be going back to school so I just needed a job for a few months so even though I had a bad feeling about them I gave the job a chance. I only worked there for 12 days because it was a total scam. They tell you that it is all commission based but for the first few weeks they will give you a base pay of $650 in case you don't meet you sales goals. If you surpass your sales goals you would then get a commission percentage. For the first few days they would not even tell me what my sales goal was or if I had hit it or not and just had me standing at the table for hours begging people for donations. The schedule is supposed to be 6 days a week Mon-Sat from 8am- 5pm but really the schedule was more like 7:45am-6~30pm Each day except for Saturdays you would meet at the office from 7:45am-10am for morning meetings and role play to "work on your pitch". You would then have to drive your own car or carpool with your partner to whatever location they tell you for the day (sometimes I had to drive all the way to Pacifica which was over an hour drive). At your location you set up your table and ask for donations until its time to drive back to the office and have a closing meeting and turn in your money to be counted. The morning meeting, travel time, and final meeting is all UNPAID. By the end of my first week the director took me out to a "rising star" dinner to make me feel like I was doing well and he informed me that I did not surpass my sales goals (even though I knew I did because I had been documenting my donations separately) and said that I would only be receiving $650 for the week. $650 is minimum wage for a 40 hour work week and I worked more like a 60 hour week. He continued to tell me that I had great potential and I could make so much more. The thing is the only way to make more money was to work more hours because we were simply asking people for donations so the longer you were out there the more people you would talk to and the more would say yes. They tell you its all a numbers game. That for every 90 people you talk to you may get 10 yeses. so the only way to make more is to talk to more people and stay out there for longer. I knew right away I had to leave and I told them I had a job opportunity elsewhere. When I was leaving I chatted with one guy who had worked there for a little over a month. I told him I had quit because its not worth it and a total scam. He said he was so glad I felt that way too because he hadn't seen his friends or family at all in the past month because of this stupid job but he felt afraid to tell anyone how he was feeling about it because it is such a cult. Save your time an energy, these people don't care about you and you will just end up working way too hard and get paid way too little.
