Pros

Huge office building. Nice toilets. Can claim your medical bills at a cap. Vouchers rewarded if you did not take any mc for the whole year. Lots you can learn and grow from although you need to filter out the bad habits, outdated mentality and practices.

Cons

Politics. Bad higher to mid management. Higher management are temperamental. Toxic environment. Family run business. Little benefits. Vouchers rewarded for no mc can only be spent on selected products within the SK jewellery group of companies. Expected to work long hours and will take up your personal time to do survey of competitors. Annual company trip and annual dnd are no longer held in 2019 Lunchtime 45 mins with no easy access to coffee shops and eateries in the vicinity. They monitor your clock in via your access pass and will penalise you accordingly during annual performance accessment. Bonus (not guaranteed) will be pro rated when you are on maternity leave. Micromanaging. Female dominated environment. Foreign talent predominant. Many cases of singaporean employees terminated suddenly instead of foreign talent. Can't apply annual leave for more than 7 days even when you have accumulated more than you are allowed to bring over to next calendar year. So you will have to clear your leave in multiple short durations. No work life balance. Be prepared for workloads you did not sign up for. No advancement prospects as your seniors have no where to move up in the corporate ladder to allow you to advance unless you prove more capable and oust your senior from their job. Seniors will suppress you. Alot of unfair practices in various departments. Pay increments are miniscule. 50 dollars per year. 150 if you are high performer (executive level) Haven't seen any malay or indian employees within the company. Was told singaporean candidates are not preferred (for having a mind of their own) as they cannot get along with the bosses who ironically are singaporean. Department has more foreign talent (pr included) than locals. Do not appreciate local talents but yet pride themselves as a local brand. Do not treat employees right. The list goes on. *note to fresh grads Do not be fooled by the glamorous front you see at stores and on advertisements and social media.

Pros

Stable and long established local business

Cons

This is a traditional family-run company where most decisions are controlled by a small group within the family. As a result, employee feedback is rarely taken seriously and many ideas proposed by staff are often dismissed or later presented as management’s own. Bonuses are split into two payments (Jan/Feb and Jul/Aug), which many employees feel is structured in a way that discourages resignation as leaving before the second payout means forfeiting half the bonus. Salary levels tend to be low compared to expectations, while management often expects high performance from both employees and suppliers. The company operates with a very cost-conscious mindset. Even basic office supplies are sourced at the lowest cost, sometimes resulting in poor quality items that break easily. This approach reflects the broader culture where spending on employee welfare or operational quality is limited. Workplace culture can feel outdated. Communication from management can sometimes come across as dismissive or condescending, and there is little emphasis on diversity or inclusive leadership. Sensitive matters such as employees’ personal health or physical appearance have occasionally been discussed openly, which can make staff uncomfortable. Career progression is also unclear. Promotions and increments may appear to depend more on personal relationships or favourability with management rather than purely on merit or performance. Overall, employees who value open communication, recognition for their ideas, and a modern workplace culture may find it challenging to thrive here.

Pros

There's a nice staff area for you to lunch in; work-life balance is instil so long you finish what was task to you.

Cons

HR didn't make it known on the job post that it was a contactual job till I was hired. Upper management and HR didn't seem to be communicating further after my role was extended for another few more months; if I was eligible for a permanent role. Only found out my fate at the company 3-days before my contract expired.
