Pros

It is a good place to start and get your foot in the door! I am learning a lot that I will be able to use in my future career as a nurse.

Cons

The pay is low considering the monitor technicians are doing the exact same job as RN's who are making 2-3x's as much an hour.

Pros

- 1:5 nursing ratio - patients are not criticlly ill or in life-threatening situations - overtime pay when I worked was great! We got extra $50/hr or $40/hr for overtime shift. A lot of opportunities to pick up shifts since we were short staffed a lot - New grad nurses get started off on a decent pay of $35/ht

Cons

- I experienced "nurses eating their young," racist patient and nurses, and micro aggressions at work - Nursing leadership is not the best - It is difficult to get a job at Tanner - We were always short-staffed - It is not a teaching hospital, so there are limited opportunities for learning - It is a small facility, so you do not get to see a lot or do a lot as a nurse - You get used to the patient population and know what to expect if you have worked on the same unit for 1-2 years - Far commute to work if you live in the city
