Pros
None. Nothing. Petting dogs was nice.
Cons
Extremely low pay for an extremely physically taxing position. An ancient POS system that hasn't been upgraded just because ownership doesn't want to spend the cash. Zero training for new associates; no one hires for love of pet food or pets but just whatever teen they can give the least money too.
The worst management i've ever been under. Management would scream at employees and give huge attitude. Give understaffed store associated too many projects than they can handle, then sit in the back and do nothing. Would not tell associates they didn't like about store meetings, just so they could later berate and write them up for "forgetting". Put mistakes of favorite associates, onto associates that were unfavored or brand new. Upper management in corporate is aware of everything and do not care; everyone is buddy-buddy and do not value employees worth what so ever.
Even post quiting, walking into any given store you're met with employees who do not greet you. They do not want to be there. Recently walked into a store in Phoenix; a manager and two employees were talking, looked at me walk in, then went into the back to continue talking. Yep. It's a good thing i'm not a thief or corporate. But corporate wouldnt' care anyway.
Go to Petsmart. It's a huge chain, yes, but it's far far better.
