Pros

Set rate per number of patients. If you take on more you can make more. Decent amount of independence with “doing the work” as a therapist. Experience in a group practice if you’ve never done private therapy.

Cons

I’ve always felt the owner and face of the company was a bit full of herself, to put it kindly. When I worked there we had to have quarterly reviews and try to come up with reasons why we must have pushed clients to leave, because financial hardship wasn’t a valid response. Patients were often billed poorly or over billed, sometimes being charged a full rate while in network and no record of insurance claims ever being submitted. Very aggressive contract to deter you to leave unless you want to pay to quit. When I was there it was hard to turn down more clients even if you didn’t want more, and you could not keep time slots open for yourself, except one lunch. Also very difficult to swap or give up a weekly shift. It’s possible therapists have been afraid to share their experience for fear of retaliation as written into the contract. Patients were forced to reschedule sessions even if they canceled early enough, or they had to pay for the session. Two stars because some people may have had a better experience, and it is good to learn how to run a practice and what not to do to your employees. Unethical: the owner encouraged therapists to coerce patients into leaving 5 star reviews and to groom them on what to write so it was good. Also told therapists to have the patient Not name their therapist so it looked like the reviews were all for the owner. What’s that diagnosis where a person has an inflated sense of self importance? Hmm…
