Pros

*Great team spirit with everybody working to a common goal of saving pets' lives *Positive company culture focusing on innovation, caring, releasing potential and taking responsibility *Strong senior management team who are all very approachable and transparent about company progress and direction *Flexible working hours *Big focus on innovation, trying new things and professionalising the support office workforce *No-blame culture *Regular and honest communication between company board and staff *Staff given the freedom to do their job *Regular celebrating/acknowledging of success *Staff encouraged to make the most of CPD opportunities

Cons

*Benefits package (outside of basic salary) is poor, particularly pension *Initiatives to improve the lives of staff are often heavily weighted towards clinicians *Limited opportunities to progress for non-clinicians *Big focus on cutting costs (partly due to years of not focusing on cutting costs) *Holiday entitlement improving but still not great (e.g. no bank holidays)

We work hard to create this, but ultimately it’s a testament to our amazing staff working tirelessly every day towards the common goal of saving pets lives. I’m also encouraged that you feel flexibility, recognition and transparency are points worth mentioning – we are very proud of progress we’ve made in all these areas over the last few months and years. I do take on board your point around benefits – we’ve recently taken proactive steps to address this by evaluating our staff benefits package to make sure we have a competitive offering that is in line with the rest of the market. We are making continuous changes here, but we have to ensure our business is running as efficiently as possible first. I also take on board your feedback.
