Pros

GraphScience was on the forefront of Facebook ads looking not only to monetize ads but capitalize on user/customer data from their affiliates. The company has potential to be a big player and has great customers. The office(when I worked there) was located in downtown Palo Alto a short walk from CalTrain.

Cons

I started there as things went down hill. My first week the VP of data science was fired. A month later the CEO continued to fight with the board until he was eventually forced out, at this point 1/4 of the employees left. The company was slow to hire and the new CEO eventually outsourced development of our application. It felt that the CEO was more likely to listen to the consulting firm than the in house engineering team. I remember having a meeting in the CEO's office with the head of the consulting firm while there were confidential documents about the company open on the desk for the consultant to read. After most of the existing staff who were located on the peninsula quit, the CEO moved the office closer to her house in San Francisco. This is not to put all the blame on the new CEO. The moral of the employees seemed pretty bad to begin with. There just wasn't a lot of faith in the company.

Pros

GS had a lot going for them - strong revenue, smart employees, good list of clients.

Cons

Lots of employee turn over including management. There wasn't a clear sense of direction which ultimately led to its acquisition.
