The 1st stage of the application was to submit a CV with some answers to basic competency questions. After this psychometric testing was done online and once passed these initial rounds it was the 1st face to face interview.
Day 1
The hiring manager was very nice and made the whole experience very informal and I did quite well, managing to answer all the questions and I felt confident throughout. Typical competency questions were asked like: ''Explain a time you had to lead a group project and what was the result?''
After this interview I had to sit the same psychometric test again to prove that it was actually me who did the 1st one.
Day 2
After my 1st day I was invited back to the last round of the process which consisted of the following:
Group exercise was we had to pretend that we were a council commit and debate about how so spend council money from the limited choices we had.
A management test which consisted of cards with missing information on it and using the surrounding information you had to fill in the blanks i.e. spot the patterns I found it quite straight forward but others found it quite complex.
A final interview with the same manager but this time with a senior HR partner.
Feedback:
While I performed well in the whole recruitment process when asked about various questions on the job I didn’t answer what they wanted. Basically they thought I would be more of a specialist than they thought initially.
I was quite annoyed that it took them the final round before they realised that I was not suitable for the job but at least they were honest and didn’t recite typical HR talk.
I thought the whole process was handled very well with good communication throughout.
