Pros
If you build good relationship with the Young People, the job can be quite rewarding at times.
Cons
No support from management in managing difficult YP's behaviour, the CPD is non-existent, the pay is low (£30 for a sleep???), there's no benefits & you get like, 2 shifts of sick days? what is it?
The company has some strange hiring practices - there were multiiple times, where somebody was offered a job without a proprer interview - just because they knew somebody higher up!
The managers say that they will support you, but instead of truly choosing what is right for the YP to develop, they usually choose to trow some money on the problem and leave you with the anger outbursts of the YPs when you are trying to put a boundary in place.
The managers do not care about how well trained are their new-starters, which leads to potentially dangerous situations.
I am not surprised that the stuff turnover is so high, it is just impossible to stay in a company like that.
