      Pros

Great pay, amazing benefits and perks, fully remote with the ability to meet up regularly in person. Chainguard is the place to be if you like a fast-paced, energizing environment with brilliant yet down-to-earth coworkers. Everyone is so smart, but also so approachable. The people are hands down awesome. There’s complex and meaningful problems to solve, and a product that’s gaining strong traction in the market. I joined the latter half of 2025, and it’s definitely a place where one needs to dive right in - sink or swim. But for me, I find it’s a rewarding place to be.

      Cons

The company grew so quickly that a lot of inefficiencies exist. It can be frustrating, but it’s also a solvable issue that I think will get better as we mature.

      Pros

Chainguard has a rare combo of great leadership, a fun & transparent culture, and an amazing community that actually cares. Peeps are smart, kind, and real. Leadership isn’t hiding behind layers, they’re in the work with you. There’s room to take risks and be curious; and everyone is encouraged to bring their authentic selves to every part of the work. If you like solving complex problems with people you genuinely enjoy, this is the spot.

      Cons

We're still a startup, so there's some chaos, some growing pains, and not everything is perfectly ironed out. We're much further ahead in tools, processes, perks, and benefits then other startups I've worked in at this stage though. And people are passionate about fixing things, and you’ll actually be empowered to help shape how we grow.

We do serious work, but don't take ourselves too seriously

      Pros

So many! But a few notable pros: - Incredible career and market opportunity with the company growing at an unprecedented rate - Talented team that's also warm and welcoming (including the execs) who live by the company values and clearly love what they do / have fun while doing it - Remote workforce offers flexibility, but bi-annual internal Summits give you the chance to get that in-person energy, and are designed to take advantage of the time together - Best-in-class benefits for a Series C startup (10-year equity exercise window, fertility benefits and 18 weeks leave for birthing parents, 100% healthcare covered for you and your dependents)

      Cons

Not a con, necessarily, but be ready to go at startup speed! There are a decent amount of folks at Chainguard from larger companies and it can be a transition, but a welcome one for me personally.

      Love it here

      Pros

Hypergrowth for company and individually means that you get to have lots of opportunities and shared successes. The company has incredible benefits and I've never been so professionally fulfilled in my career.

      Cons

There's a lot to do! If you aren't good at prioritizing, it can feel overwhelming.

      Pros

Creative and passionate people working to secure open source. Great culture, quality benefits, and a product that fits the market!

      Cons

As a newer company still some disparate communication and growing pains, but positioned in the right direction for impactful change.

Thanks for sharing your experience and for being part of the team! We’re glad the mission, people, and product stood out to you. There’s a lot of passion across the team, and it’s great to hear that’s been your experience so far. We also appreciate the note on communication and growing pains. We know that comes with scaling quickly, and it’s something we’re continuing to work on.

      Pros

Good benefits and that's about it.

      Cons

Poor excuse for culture. My experience here was not positive. The environment is highly political, and employees are treated more as commodities than as people. Interactions feel largely transactional, with little emphasis on collaboration, trust, or long-term development. Overall, it was difficult to see a sustainable or healthy culture in practice.

Thanks for being honest about your experience. We’re sorry it felt transactional and disconnected. That’s not how we want work to feel here. Culture shows up in everyday interactions and feedback like this is important as we look at how trust, collaboration, and long-term growth actually show up in practice. We appreciate you sharing this perspective, and we’re continuing to learn from it. If you’re open to sharing more, please reach us at culture@chainguard.dev.

      Pros

      - Leadership that leads with trust and transparency - Smart, kind people who work hard and support each other - Culture encourages autonomy, ownership, and learning - Great benefits, quarterly bonuses, and investment in development - Remote-first, async-friendly, and very respectful of boundaries

      Cons

      - Hypergrowth = constant change and not a lot of hand-holding - Some systems and processes are still maturing - Cross-functional alignment can be tricky as teams scale

      Pros

      Cons

Beware, especially if you are a woman. New senior leadership as of 2026 who failed the "culture test" at other companies before being hired at Chainguard are now predictably ruining it from the inside.
