What is the hiring process like at Clipboard?

      Clipboard reviews

Great Ownership Culture and Product-Market Fit

      Product operations lead
      Current employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

The hiring process is unique and meritocratic. Case studies are a time commitment, but it's the best way to give everyone a fair shot at the job, regardless of your resume. And in general, the culture is the same way. You can take this job as far as you want it to go, and there are no toes to step on. If you're a customer support agent, nobody will stop you from writing an investment brief that PMs usually write. And they're pretty serious about letting shooters shoot and changing your place in the org based on your skills.

      Cons

Can be a lot of work, but it is what you make of it. No equity unless you're S&O, Product, or Engineering, which sucks. You have to be cognizant of getting Slack pings at all times of the day and weekend (it's healthcare staffing, so customers are 24/7 non-stop) and communicating your bandwidth accordingly.

      Micromanaged, Used, and Discarded

      Sales representative

      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Fully remote, good technology, decent support

      Cons

Micromanaged down to the minute, culture of pleasing managers to earn favorability, massive decline in demand, constant reshuffling to look for a process that works, unrealistic expectations and KPI’s, focus on calls and ‘inputs’ (not actual results), CONSTANT turnover and layoff’s, basically zero commission (they WILL lie to you in the interview process)

      Pros

The training is good, the pay is decent. So far people have been helpful. The hiring process went very fast.

      Cons

Sometimes you don't receive the necessary support from the Operations team. The signing process was confusing and dreadful.

      Intense, but worth it.

      Operations associate
      Current employee

      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

The hiring process is intense, but I think it’s the right approach. Instead of relying on keyword filters or resume-scanning software, CBH focuses on case studies and exercises that mirror the actual work you’d be doing. This allows them to hire based on results, not just credentials. While it may not be for everyone — and it does require meaningful upfront effort for a role you might not get — I personally prefer this. I’d rather invest deeply in a few companies I truly believe I’d be a good fit for than waste time sending out hundreds of applications that will likely never be seen by a human. Since starting at CBH, everyone has been helpful, kind, smart and very motivated. I can't help but think that this can be credited to the approach, and immense amount of effort they put into hiring the right people.

      Cons

Clipboard Health is very results-driven. They won’t micromanage you, which I personally prefer — but it does mean you need to be proactive in all things, including setting your own boundaries to maintain work-life balance. This also is not the right company if you are just looking to coast. They want you to get better.

      Pros

      Cons

Bad recruitment process Every role has a technical assessment which is not bad in itself however, there’s no constructive feedback to candidates after completing the assessment.

      Grateful and Impressed

      Wops chat associate
      Current contractor

      Business Outlook

      Pros

I was impressed with their unique hiring process. Not all companies review resumes thoroughly, but at Clipboard, they truly value the effort you put into writing important details. They focus directly on your work ethic during the interview. Their case study includes a company overview that allows you to showcase your skills in critical thinking, work ethic, and rational decision-making. This way, you are not only measured by your resume but also by how you approach decision-making, handle responsibilities, and demonstrate efficiency in the role. At the end of each interview, which I am very grateful for, they provide feedback on areas where you can improve, as well as highlight the best practices you’ve demonstrated so far. This is really impressive.

      Cons

There are inevitable learning curves and adjustments along the way. However, I believe these changes are designed to open the door to greater opportunities in the future. Rather than being considered a drawback, the process of learning while performing one’s role should be viewed as a valuable opportunity for growth. It not only enhances productivity but also makes the work experience more engaging and meaningful.

      Poor recruitment process

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Flexible working arrangement - Fast response

      Cons

I past their initial screening process and was invited to do a case study. I sunk a lot of time analysing the case, only for them to say I didn't make it to the next stage almost immediately. Feels like they didn't even read my analysis, and used some arbitrary way to reject applications. A very poor hiring process. They get you invested and get your hopes up only to reject you so quickly. My advice is not to even apply for any of their roles.
