What is the hiring process like at CloudKitchens?

      CloudKitchens reviews

the worst role I've ever been in, everything in interview process was a LIE

      Account executive
      Former employee

      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

I wish I believed the reviews before I joined- please read if you are thinking of going into sales. - I am sitting here trying to think of ONE - I liked my co- workers - Office is nice and has a gym with views - They pay for parking

      Cons

      - Zero ramp period, even though I was told there was one - No room to negotiate on a highly offensive base pay in LA in 2026 - Everyone is scared they will be put on a pip, not a positive sales environment - Leadership and management is a total mess. - Churn and burn culture - Pushing a product that did not morally feel good about in the current climate, most of our prospects are barely surviving off of their current B and M (tough sale with ICE and lots of biz failing) - the pay structure makes zero sense, if you want to make money, literally work anywhere else unless you plan on being here for 5+ years. - In person office everyday, M-F, 9-5 and for what? To cold call in a tiny booth all day long, not flexible to WFH - red flag your Case Study in the interview process is basically prep for a PIP????

      Pros

Looking at the glassdoor reviews for Cloudkitchens before I was going to interview had me concerned. But the tech recruiter was the nicest I had to deal with and the interview process was very straightforward. 100% tech. No culture fit or other subjective metrics. If you got the cops, you got the job. And to help me make a decision, they invited me to meet the team after making an offer, which was amazing. I accepted the offer. I am based in the LA office, and no regrets so far. This is flexible and respectful employer that respects its employees and their initiatives

      Cons

I have to be onsite 3 days a week, which frankly, I personally see that as a +, because I like the office, but I can see how this can be a con.

      Pros

Work from home - until they mandated that you work from the facility you sell for. You can make some quick money while you are in ramping.. but be looking for another job as soon as that ramp is done.

      Cons

In my short time with CloudKitchens I have had 3 different managers. Within the first month of my hiring, they let go of more than half of the sales team in my area. Red flag #1 Red Flag #2: I sell into a city that only has one location, and am held to the same quota as the people selling into the big metropolitan areas (LA, NY, CHI). So after I finish ramping - quota will be near impossible to hit.. the sad part is, my manager agrees but says he can do nothing to change it. Red Flag #3: They let go of 12 SDR's, and their manager, as well as the head of marketing.. Red Flag #4: They want you to be super "grimey" and dishonest to the operators you are trying to bring in. Most of them churn, but CloudKitchens does not care. They just want the money for as long as they can get it. It seems very "used-car salesperson" even though they say they are a "tech SaaS" company.

      Pros

Ready to go kitchen space (hoods, sink, power, gas).

      Cons

Very expensive, high rate of failure with little to no support from cloud kitchens. Not a partnership - you are a tenant to them, that’s all. They are not invested in you being successful at all. They are bullies, and treat operators like they are employees. Any problems on their side, they take no accountability for. They make up rules and issue fines for frivolous things, (one empty box on the ground, that wasn’t even ours) which they don’t have authorization to do anyways because it’s not on our contract. If you get a package delivered they won’t even let you know it’s there. Incorrect billing constantly and they will turn off your service if there is any issues. Drivers steal orders from lockers. Terrible communication, terrible onboarding and terrible support. No contact numbers to contact management team, no responses on nights and weekends (like if heaters break and it’s 20 degrees in the building) or if AC breaks and it’s 100 in the kitchen. No compensation for problems with their tech that cause lost sales for us). Just do a quick Chat GPT or Grok search about cloud kitchens restaurant success and it will give you accurate info. Here is a snippet from grok (and it’s true based on my own experience. Grok Findings. 85% of restaurants in CloudKitchens facilities leave within their first year, • Common reasons for leaving include misleading sales practices, inadequate support, and poor facility conditions, Overview Based on general data from multiple CloudKitchens locations, approximately 85% of restaurants leave within their reasonable to assume a similar turnover rate there, given the lack of evidence suggesting otherwise. Success can vary, with some restaurants thriving due to unique products and market fit, while others face challenges like high costs and operational issues. Reasons for Turnover The high turnover rate is often linked to misleading sales promises, inadequate maintenance, and financial pressures, which could impact restaurants. For example, operators have reported feeling misled about support levels, and some face difficulties recovering deposits, adding to the risk.
