      Deceptive Leadership

      Software engineer
      Current employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Direct manager and teammates are great and some of the best I've worked with in my career. The work itself can be rewarding and feel impactful at times.

      Cons

Senior leadership is consistently rug-pulling and lying to us. When I joined the RSU price I was told during the interview process was a lie. Last year they stopped comping health insurance but told us they would grandfather in everyone who had been comped with a stipend to cover the plan cost in perpetuity to keep us whole. A year later they have gone back on that and removed that stipend, which amounts to a paycut of up to $17,000 if you were an employee with the family insurance plan. If you are a software engineer, the benefits package offered here starting in 2025 is laughable and you can do much better almost anywhere else outside of the healthcare space They also used to offer a generous parental leave of 20 weeks for both birthing and non-birthing parents, but that is now reduced to 16 weeks for birthing parents and 8 weeks for non-birthing parents. Go figure why they thought it would be a good idea to change from equal leave to unequal leave The health insurance provider HealthComp they use is awful and conveniently owned by the same venture capital company that owns the majority stake in Datavant. I'm constantly having to be on the phone to deal with mistakes in how I was charged because of their incompetence.

      Pros

Pros: • Remote-first setup offers flexibility • Talented and supportive teammates • Fast-paced environment great for self-starters • Mission-driven company with a focus on health data innovation

      Cons

Used to be great, now disappointing Datavant had a lot of promise, but it’s changed. Leadership feels disconnected, and there’s been a noticeable drop in transparency and trust. Promised benefits were taken away, including health stipends and other perks. The workload is heavy, and burnout is real, yet there’s little recognition or career growth. It’s frustrating to see a once-great company lose sight of its people.

The pay is great, the benefits - major holidays paid in the first week? No one I've worked for has ever done that before! - are eye opening, the onboarding process is AWESOMELY informative, and my office is just FILLED with happy, helpful, awesome coworkers.

      Cons

      None so far at all!

      Toxic work culture

      Pros

The pay was great and the benefits used to be good.

      Cons

Horrible toxic work culture. Very cult like with their values and thinking they are above everyone else. HR needs to be replaced (I believe they may have done this - hopefully!) as they are gossipy and NOT supportive of their employees. Had no HR experience and should never have been in that role in the first place. The work life balance was also non existent; I know several team members who would cry at least once per week due to the stress, over working nature and toxic management.

      Cons

I was hired under a Temp Agency nearly 2 years ago with approximately 100 others. We were told after 6 months, Ciox would consider hiring us, and there were active conversions happening. About a year in, and we realized that was not the truth. There has been no transparency as to why, and there’s only a handful of agents left out of my original hiring group. We have been making the same amount for nearly two years, no benefits, no PTO, no anything. The management kept saying to “keep working hard” with our numbers and keep the “morale” up, but they obviously do not care about us as people at all. The new Outbound Supervisor is the worst thing to happen to the company, and the lack of actual awareness of the role is horrible.
